Are you ready to dive into the world of spinning fiber? Or have you tried spinning, but found it to be difficult or unrewarding? Try out the Electric Eel Wheel 6.1 from Dreaming Robots and you may just find it's the spinning wheel for you! This hands-on workshop will cover the basics of learning to spin fiber into yarn with the EEW 6.1, providing real-time feedback on technique. This portable, affordable, and efficient wheel will make you fall in love with spinning or rekindle your love of the hobby. At just five pounds including a battery, the EEW 6.1 goes anywhere you can go. After more than a decade of refinement from Dreaming Robots founder and designer Maurice Ribble, the EEW 6.1 can do almost anything traditional wheels can do at a fraction of the cost. In no time you will see the value of a wheel that can travel with you in a medium-sized project bag and yet be powerful and versatile enough to work for beginner spinners and experts alike.

Materials Provided: Students don't have to bring anything - instructors will provide all necessary tools and materials, including e-spinners for use during the class.

Meet Your Instructors:

Katy, your personal yarn enabler, wants to help you find the perfect yarn and accessories for the perfect project. She has been knitting for more than a decade and has been in the yarn industry for almost as long. She has taught in a variety of settings including the special education classroom and believes that everyone has something special to bring to the (fiber) table.

Liza Q. Wirtz, better known as Q (aka the Chief Feline), runs multifaceted fiber-arts business The Foldout Cat from her home studio in Alabama with the frequent and welcome assistance of partners Fiber J and Maker J and the help of a fluctuating number of cats. Q has been weaving freestyle since 2015, carding art batts and rolags since 2018, spinning since 2018, and dyeing since 2021. She teaches freestyle weaving, art-batt carding, and basic experiential e-spinning with the same philosophy that infuses her practice: create from your heart, make what gives you joy, and put beauty into the world. Q wholeheartedly believes that everyone's an artist and that giving people access to fiber-arts tools and learning lets them prove it to themselves.
