Art Yarn - Twists, Locks, and Chains — Saturday Afternoon
Nov 14, 2026, 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM | Instructor: Maranda Weathermon
Take your handspun yarns beyond the ordinary! In this fun, technique-filled class, you'll learn how to create expressive art yarn using a variety of texture-building methods. We'll cover spinning pigtails, mini beehives, thick-and-thin yarn, incorporating long locks, and adding beautiful texture with chain plying. By the end of class, you'll have a collection of unique samples and the confidence to combine these techniques into your own one-of-a-kind yarns.
Skill Level: Intermediate - basic spinning experience is required.
Materials Provided: A fiber supply kit including a small selection of combed top, a small selection of roving, and long wool locks or mohair curls.
Students Must Bring: A spinning wheel in good working order (e-spinner OK, large orifice; orifice hoops rather than hooks are recommended but not required), one bobbin of spun single, two empty bobbins, and a lazy Kate.
Note: Price includes supply kit.
I understand that classes are non-refundable. If a class does not meet its minimum size, refunds will be issued within 7 days after the festival to the original form of payment.
