I have been crocheting doilies since I was young (a few decades ago), following in my grandmother’s footsteps, and started making both detailed and simple lace many years ago. A huge joy in my life, over the past 10 years, is teaching at the John C. Campbell Folk School where, as part of my pay, I get to return and take classes, the latest of which was a “Design Your Own Knitted Sweater” where we spent a sweet week charting, swatching, steeking, and chatting about knitting. It was wonderfully relaxing when the steeking involved a bit of crocheting- right up my alley. Every evening and free moment, I sit in my chair with my cat on my lap and crochet lace or doilies.
